As a Junior Security Engineer, you will play a vital role in supporting the organization’s information security efforts. You will assist in identifying, mitigating, and responding to security threats, ensuring the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of our systems and data as a first line of defense.
Key Responsibilities:
Monitoring & Analysis:
- Monitor security systems and tools for anomalies and potential threats.
- Analyze security alerts and escalate incidents as necessary.
- Research new cyber security technologies that will improve cyber security posture of the company.
Incident Response:
- Assist in investigating and responding to security incidents.
- Document incidents and lessons learned.
- Take a proactive approach in identifying potential security risks and developing strategies to mitigate them.
Vulnerability Management:
- Conduct vulnerability scans and support remediation efforts.
- Assist in patch management and configuration reviews.
- Perform day-to-day security tasks related to Firewall approvals, vetting on user access requests and troubleshooting.
Access Control:
- Support the implementation and enforcement of access control policies.
- Review and manage user access permissions.
Security Awareness:
- Collaborate on training programs to educate staff on security best practices.
- Participate in phishing simulations and awareness campaigns.
- Follow the principle of Security by Design and provide security feedback on new initiatives.
Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of security processes.
- Generate periodic security reports for review.
- Liaise with auditors and regulators as required.
Qualifications:
- 2+ years experience in similar roles.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Basic knowledge of information security principles, tools, and best practices.
- Familiarity with network protocols, firewalls, and intrusion detection systems.
- Understanding of common vulnerabilities and exploitation techniques.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), or equivalent.
- Experience with SIEM tools, antivirus solutions, and endpoint protection platforms.
- Exposure to scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) or basic programming.
